Floyd  Cockerham
PEKIN ~ Floyd Cockerham, 90, of Pekin, passed away at 4:38 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Pekin Manor.
Born May 26, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Nora (Harvey) Cockerham, he married Ruby Richey on December 27, 1950 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are three children, Karen (Joseph) Blome of Pekin, Mike (Cheryl) Cockerham of Manito and Robin (Dean) Lahm of Brownsville, Texas; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one nephew, Steve (Susan) Layne of Manito.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-grandson, Andrew Wittmer and one sister, Florence Nichols.
Floyd was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
He had worked as an engineer and train master for Chicago Northwestern Rail Road for 45 years, retiring in 1990.
A loving and dedicated family man, who raised "awesome" children, Floyd thoroughly enjoyed fishing and talking about anything associated with the railroad. He was also known to be a jack of all trades.
Floyd was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pekin.
His private graveside service will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. The Rev. Dr. Michael McLeod will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Calvary Baptist Church, 921 Caroline Street, Pekin, Illinois 61554.
