TSG Wayne's Story
TSG Wayne Chism, 88, of Glasgow, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at the NHC Healthcare Facility in Glasgow, with his wife, Mary Christine Chism, by his side.
Born in Louisville, and raised in Glasgow, he was the son of the late Ernest and Myrtle Riddle Chism.
Mr. Chism was a retired Tech-Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force where he served in World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a former owner and operator of a barbecue restaurant in Glasgow, a member of Barren River Rod and Gun Club, VFW Post 5906 and D.A.V. Chapter No. 20 of Glasgow.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Melissa Chism Goodman, of Nashville, Tenn., Phillip Harper, of Glasgow, Tammy Clark (Jim), of Glasgow, Sue Wilson (Mike), of Summer Shade and David Harper (Janet), of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Michael Harper (Kim), Stephanie Esters (Jason), Drew Coffey (Andrea), Clinton Harper and Katie Harper; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; a sister, Jackie Kerr (Wade) of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; four sisters-in-law, Lois Chism, of Glasgow, Fairy Chism, of Crawfordsville, Ind., Magdaline Poynter (Gerald) and Barbara Smith (James), both of Edmonton; and a brother-in-law, William Compton (Linda), of Edmonton.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by D.A.V. Chapter No. 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
