Reggie's Story

Reggie Allen Hammer, 75, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at his home.
Born in Monroe County, he was the son of the late Ferry White Hammer and Mary Bell Ross Hammer. Mr. Hammer was a truck driver for Venture Express for 10 years and for 18 years was an employee of L&N Railroad. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Peters Creek Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing Rook with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Lois Hope Hammer; two sons, Lee Allen Hammer, of Lucas, and Reggie Ray Hammer (Jennifer), of Bowling Green; three grandchildren, Brooke, Bodie and Blaise Hammer; one brother, Rex Hammer, of Arkansas; three sisters, Elizabeth Smith, of Owensboro, Modelle Cloyd, of Mattoon, Ill., and Helen Payne, of Mount Hermon. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Royce D. Hammer; and a sister, Kathleen Hendrick.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors provided by D.A.V. Chapter 20 of Glasgow, will be in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Friday.
