Mrs. Barbara's Story
Mrs. Barbara Wilkins Lamont, 82, cherished wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2017, at Baptist Health Louisville's Palliative Care Unit.
Mrs. Lamont, the daughter of Fred Neal and Edna Borders Wilkins, was born on March 4, 1935, in Sharon Grove.
She was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and Western Kentucky University and was an elementary school teacher in Bowling Green and at Happy Valley Elementary School in Glasgow. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bowling Green. She loved spending time with her family, growing flowers, caring for others and hosting legendary, home-cooked meals.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Daniel Lamont; her daughter and son-in-law, Tiffanie and Rob Gorstein; her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Cathy Lamont; two beloved grandchildren, Ella and Brice; her sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Royce Speck; her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Frances Wilkins; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, with visitation from noon until 2 p.m. before the service. Pastor Greg Allen of Southeast Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 1940 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green.
