Douglas Gene Gibbons, 82, Glasgow, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green.
He was born in Glasgow, March 11, 1934, son of the late Hershel J. Gibbons and Sarah Elizabeth Sheffield Gibbons. Mr. Gibbons was a farmer and owner/operator of Gibbons Appliance Company in Glasgow for many years and later he worked as a lab tech for Dairyman Inc. in Glasgow. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Pickett Gibbons, of Glasgow; son, Stephen Gibbons (Jackie), Glasgow; three grandchildren, Akela, Kristopher and Isabella Gibbons, all of Glasgow; two sisters-in-law, Bessie Lee Gibbons and Blondell Gibbons, both of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter, Earl, Louis, Arthur and Waldo Gibbons; and four sisters, Ruby Dell Smith, Alice Boles, Effie Chase and Alma Chase.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Military honors provided by DAV Chapter 20, Glasgow.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
