Dorothy's Story

Dorothy Tillie Wood Shelton passed away on December 4th 2016, at her residence in Charlotte, NC surrounded by family members and friends.
Tillie was born May 9th, 1932 in Glasgow, KY, to the late Buford C. Wood, Sr. and the late Virgie Wells Wood. Tillie was a popular member of Glasgow High Schools graduating class of 1950 and was also a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Glasgow. Tillie spent most of her life living in Glasgow, but later moved to Charlotte to be near family.
In addition to her parents, Tillie was preceded in death by three husbands, William Damm, Paul Luster, and Asa Shelton; sister, Mary Opal Wood Keith; brother, Buford C. Wood, Jr.; sister-in-law, Edna Beasley Wood; and brothers-in-law, Gordon Keith and Kenneth Quigley.
She is survived by daughters, Susie Zanco and her husband, Phil, of Baton Rouge, LA, Julie Bosworth, of Charlotte, and Margaret Carter and her husband, Wes, of Charlotte; granddaughters, Natalie Palmer and husband, Duncan, of Charlotte, Rosalyne Arceneaux and husband, Garrett, of Baton Rouge, Ann Wesley Carter, and Virginia Carter, both of Charlotte; grandsons, Jerry Wier, of Baton Rouge, and Grant Bosworth and Alex Bosworth, both of Charlotte; sisters, Martha Wood Quigley, of Glasgow, and Sara Wood Wooton and husband, John, of St. Clair Shores, MI; brothers, Kenneth W. Wood and wife, Ruth, of Glasgow, and J. Robert Wood and wife, Joy, of Bowling Green; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on December 15th at 2:30 in the Chapel at Plantation Estates, 733 Plantation Estates Dr., Matthews, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First United Methodist Church, 500 South Green Street, Glasgow, KY 42141, or the Cancer Society.
