Clara B. Gibson, 95, of Summitville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson.
She was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Metcalfe County, to Calvin and Pearl Fields. Clara was an active member of Summitville Baptist Church where she enjoyed the fellowship and much more. She retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson in 1980 after 32 years of service. Family was a huge part of Clara's life and she was a blessing to family and friends.
Survivors: son, Stanley Gibson (Jeanie Kirby), Summitville; daughter, Doris Savage, Gas City; grandchildren: Cassandra (Todd) Creamer, Amanda Savage Purvis, Danette (Chris) Cornett, Benjamin Gibson and Andrew (Carrie) Gibson; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Elbert (Dorine) Fields, Glasgow; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, Ezra Gibson, in 1984; sisters, Jewell (Joe) Jessie, Lois (Ovie) Wilson and Mammie (James) Shives; and brother, Carroll (Lee) Fields; and grandson, Jacob Savage.
Services honoring Clara's life and faith will take place at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017, in the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St., Summitville. Pastor Alex Beane will officiate. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery-Summitville. Friends may call on the family at the funeral after 11 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Summitville Baptist Church through the funeral home.
