Ruth Whitlow, nee Baldock, 98, of Orland Park, formerly of Grant Park, Flossmoor, Harvey and Summer Shade, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016. Loving wife of the late Wayne L. Whitlow; beloved mother of Douglas (Beverly) Whitlow, Marcus (Gina) Whitlow, the late Larry (Eva) Whitlow, and the late Mary Whitlow. Cherished grandmother of Larry Jr., Johnny, Tommy (Lisa), Brandy, Kimberly (James), the late Todd, Amanda, Candice (Eric), Marcus H., and Alex. Proud great-grandmother of 10 great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons. Preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (late Ona) and James (Ester). Ruth loved spending time with family and friends, cherishing all the beauty mother nature and God offers, and traveling. Visitation is Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 from 3 to 7 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Drive and Harlem) Orland Park, Ill. Interment in Summer Shade on Friday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Heart Association appreciated. Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
