Rex E. Gittings, 78, of Tompkinsville, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, at his home.
Rex was born in Cumberland County on April 25, 1938, a son of the late Annie Lee (Geralds) and Samuel Benton Gittings. On Jan. 28, 1956, he married June Grinestaff in Celina, Tenn.
Rex was a farmer and businessman. He was also a member of Berea Church of Christ
Rex is survived by his wife, June Gittings, and a daughter, Peggy Gittings, both of Tompkinsville; and a sister, Susan Stephens, of Center.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Sammie Gittings; and sister, Dorothy Richardson.
Funeral services were held at Yokley Trible Funeral Home on Monday, April 3, 2017. Services were held by John Osgatharp and Amanda Isenberg. Entombment was at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Pallbearers were Neal Isenberg, Dashiell Isenberg, Wallace Murphy, Benny Stephens, Bobby Ferguson, Willie "Jake" White, Dr. Tony Carter and Gary, Deanna and Addison York.
Honorary pallbearers were past and present Save-A-Lot employees.
