Nelda Wooten, 79, of Sonora, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at her residence in Sonora.
She was born in Glasgow to Morris and Mary Staples Lohden. She and her husband owned and managed Sammy's Market and Restaurant in Sonora. But her most important role was loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Joan Compton.
She is survived by her husband, Sammy Wooten, of Sonora; one daughter, Donna (John) Givens, of Nicholasville; three sons, Michael Wooten, Louisville, Mark (Dawn) Wooten, Sonora, Matt (Leslie) Wooten, Louisville; niece, Sue (Ryan) Akers, Sonora; one brother, Wayne (Jessica) Lohden, Glasgow; seven grandchildren: Courtney, Curtis, Josh, Chrystal, Dustin, Sammy and Hannah; and seven great-grandchildren: Talan, Bailee, Cailey, Addilyn, Emma, Desini and Andrew.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Manakee Funeral Home in Sonora, with the Rev. Drew Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Sonora Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 1 to 8 p.m. or Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
