Myrtle Mitchell Middleton of Glasgow, formerly of Baxter, Ky., passed away Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital with family by her side.
She was born in Harlan County on Jan. 14, 1921.
Myrtle was a homemaker, wife, loving mother, grandmother and sister; she was a person who enjoyed life who had a great inner strength, dedication to family and strong conviction. She believed in the Seventh Day Adventist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adrian and Mary Ellen Sergent Mitchell; husband, John Henry Middleton; six brothers, Hubert, Homer, Hayes, Burness, Adrian Jr., and James Mitchell; and one sister, Stella Byrd.
Survivors include four children, Henrietta Greatrex (Jerry), of Simi Valley, Calif., Marietta Wells (George), of Glasgow; John Middleton; and Gloria Osborne (Ron), of Winchester; two grandchildren, Whitney Moffett (Stephen) and Hillary Osborne; one sister, Effie Davis, of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephew also survive.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Diversicare of Glasgow, Drs. Amelia and Kylend Kiser, T.J. Samson Hospital and T.J. Samson Hospice staff.
Visitation will be from 10-2 p.m. with funeral services directly after at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, at Mount Pleasant Funeral Home in Harlan. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Donations to T.J. Samson Hospice Care may be made in lieu of flowers.
