Jimmie Dale Pitcock, 85, of Tompkinsville, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017, while in the company of family members, at NHC in Glasgow.
He was born in Monroe County, on May 12, 1931, son of the late Elsie Susan (Hammer) and Roscoe Marvin "Coley" Pitcock.
Jimmie Dale was a young pitcher with the Veteran's Ball Club in Tompkinsville. He signed a Class A Contract with the Chicago Cubs which was cut short due to serving in Korea. He was retired from the postal service and the National Guard and was a Korean War veteran. He was a cattle farmer, UK Wildcat fan, avid golfer and bowler, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and was a member of First Baptist Church in Tompkinsville.
He married Phyllis Ford, May 15, 1951, in Fayetteville, N.C. They shared almost 66 years of marriage together.
Jimmie Dale is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ford Pitcock, of Tompkinsville; daughter, Sandra, wife of Bob Smith, of Glasgow; two sons, Gary Pitcock, of S. Windsor, Conn.; and Clark, husband of Beverly Pitcock, of Glasgow; halfsister, Teresa, wife of Lonnie Meredith, of Cave City; three halfbrothers, Jerry, husband of Candy Pitcock, of Bowling Green; Terry Pitcock, of Murray; Perry, husband of Barbara Pitcock, of Bowling Green; three grandchildren, Mark Smith and wife, Lindsey, of Glasgow, Laura Dyer and husband, Josh, of Botswana, Africa and Olivia Pitcock of Bowling Green; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, Tompkinsville, with Dr. Tom Stokes officiating. Visitation, Friday 4:30 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 6 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment at Ebenezer Cemetery with military honors by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20.
