George William Schrader, 73, of Cave City, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at University of Louisville Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1943, in Philadelphia, to the late George I. and Doris Seher Schrader. He was employed at SKF for 30 years before his employment in the Cave City Maintenance Department.
George was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart. He was the founder and past president of the Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club, Chapter C.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie M. Schrader, of Cave City; a daughter, Deborah Renee Costa, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son, George William Schrader Jr., of Florence, Miss.; a granddaughter, Alexandria Nicole Costa; two sisters, Frances E.M. Schrader and Doris C. Sloan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, with Wayne Hatcher officiating, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29 at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City. Military rites performed by the DAV, Glasgow Chapter 20, will be at Cave City Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday after 9 a.m. until time of service.
