David Ronald Bumps, 49, of Louisville, passed away on Sept. 8, 2017, at Baptist Hospital East after a valiant and inspiring 27-month fight with cancer. Through it all, he never lost his amazing strength, faith and sense of humor. David lived life on his terms. He loved football, U of L, the Rams, Star Wars, all things economic and political, and above all, his family and friends. David had a special way of helping others laugh, think differently and know how much they were loved.
David is a native of Middlebury, Vermont and Glasgow, but made Louisville his home. A graduate of Glasgow High School and Centre College, David spent his career in the construction and material handling industry and ultimately, started his own business, Lifting Solutions. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Midland Trail Golf Club.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Connie Mason; grandparents, Raymond and Rita Bumps and Stowell and Della Fenn; and stepmother, Janis Bumps.
He is survived by his wife, Gretta Feldkamp; sons, Andrew and Ryan Bumps; father, Thomas Bumps; stepfather, Joseph Mason; siblings, Marisa Bumps, Corrie Bumps (Jennifer), Anthony Mason (Laura), Will Bumps (Tiana), Tracy Miller Bumps; nieces, Madeline, Peyton, Hayley; nephew, Zachary; and many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
His funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road; Louisville, Kentucky with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
