Christine Jones Shirley

Christine Jones Shirley, 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Knob Lick, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, in Cincinnati.
Born Dec. 13, 1926, in Knob Lick, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Lula Clark Jones and the widow of Fred D. Shirley Sr.
She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church at an early age and became secretary. She was the retired owner operator of Shirley's laundry and dry cleaner.
Survivors include one daughter, Nola L. Shirley Taylor and her husband, Wendell, of Cincinnati; three sons, William C. Shirley and wife, Marsha, and Troye A. Shirley, both of Cincinnati, and Grayling Shirley, Los Angeles, Calif.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by one son, Fred D. Shirley Jr.; one brother, Sherman Jones; and one sister, Kathleen Jones Stockton.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, in Knob Lick, with Pastor Ronnie Bryant, officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 from 5 - 8 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home and on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017 at Ebenezer Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, Knob Lick.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
