Carl Howard Smith,age 82, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020, at his home.
He was born on December 14, 1937 in Glasgow, KY, the son of the late A. Carlton and M. Ruby Jessee Smith.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired from the shipping department of Campbell Hausfeld and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club since 1963 and a member of the Leitchfield First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances Bacon Smith of Leitchfield; two daughters, Jennifer Rene Beach (Tony) of Bassett, VA and Susan McCloud (Sam) of Caneyville, KY; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Smith and a sister, Barbara Rapp.
Funeral services will be at 12 noon, Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Dermitt Funeral Home. Bro. Doug King will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
