Bill Poynter, 87, of Cave City, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Signature Healthcare of Hart County.
He was a native of Barren County and a member of Servant Valley United Baptist Church. He worked at Hart County Creameries, Firestone in Bowling Green, Caverna Schools and was a life-long farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Poynter in 2005; his parents, Walter and Harriett Logsdon Poynter; and two brothers, Clarence Poynter and Curtis Poynter.
He is survived by three children, Connie Wilson of Cave City, Teresa Johnson of Glasgow, and Carlos Poynter and wife, Carol of Cave City; five grandchildren, Jason Wilson and wife, Tonya, Brian Wilson and wife, Leslie, Jonathan Holley and wife, Roberta, Christoper and wife, Amanda, Dana Estes and husband, Jonathan; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, J.V. Poynter, Warren Poynter and wife, Denise, Paul Poynter and wife, Joann, Jerry Poynter, three sisters, Helen Byrd, Ruby Chapman and husband, Randall, and Patricia Rutherford and husband, Stanley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Servant Valley United Baptist Church in Cave City with burial to follow in the Cave City Cemetery. Visitation at Servant Valley United Baptist Church on Saturday from 1-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 9 a.m. until time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of Winn Funeral Home.
