Anne Matthews
January 21, 1932 - October 29, 2020
Anne Downing Matthews, of Glasgow, KY, wife of Harold Thomas Matthews for 64 years, passed away at her home on October 29, 2020. She was preceded in death by parents Lester Witt and Nettie Bewley Downing, brother John Calloway Downing and wife Virginia Akers Downing.
She studied at Glasgow High School, Sullins College in Bristol, VA, and the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority. Mrs. Matthews was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church since the age of 10 and was a devoted choir member. She was a member of the Glasgow Musicale, serving in various offices, and was the Stephen Collins Foster Music Camp scholarship chairperson for many years. She was a member of the Glasgow Garden Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her husband, Harold Thomas Matthews, and their children, Dr. John Harold Matthews, Louisville, Robert Downing Matthews and his wife Jill, Ponce Inlet, FL, Jeana Ross Kinsman and her husband David, Glasgow; granddaughters Julia Rae Weinstein and her husband Adam, Gainesville, FL, Jessica Ross Matthews, Louisville, Anne Calloway, Caroline Asher, and Julia Ross Kinsman, Glasgow; brother-in-law Robert Elliott Matthews and his wife Brenda, Big Canoe, GA; nieces Anne Grant Underwood and her husband Rollin (Buddy) and Jenny Jean Downing, Glasgow, and dear friends.
A private family memorial service will be held on November 1 at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
