Ann D. Schoonover, 86, of Centralia, formerly of Salem, died Feb. 16, 2018, at Centralia Manor.
She was an opera singer and retired from Lutheran Child and Family Services as a social worker. Ann attended Monticello College and then the Conservatoire Americanne in Fontainebleau, France, and Trappsches Conservatory in Munich, Germany, receiving her certification as an opera and concert singer. She later attended Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Ann was an Episcopalian.
Graveside services will be held for Ann Schoonover at 1 p.m. on April 3, 2018 at Glasgow Cemetery in Glasgow, with Jeff Bruce officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Humane Society. The Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem is in charge of arrangements.
Ann Schoonover was born on May 3, 1931 in Salem to Dr. Herbert E. "H.E." Schoonover and Amelia Ruth (Walker) Schoonover.
Survivors include a brother, Herbert Schoonover and wife, Barbara, of Salem; two sisters, Sandra Konrad and husband, Ron, of O'Fallon, and Mary Jane Raymond, of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Schoonover and wife, Evelyn; sister, Sue Fisher and husband, Jack; stepmother, Thelma Schoonover; and her grandmother, Verna (Settles) Walkers.
